Welcome!

If you genuinely want to improve your health but either don’t know what to do or you can’t stick to your plans, you are a suitable candidate for the Gloria E. Simpson Foundation. Our mission is to inform and empower people with diet related illnesses in order to improve their health. With our help, you will be able take an active role in your health and wellbeing, and to make lasting lifestyle changes.

The Current Health Crisis

Lifestyle related illnesses have become a huge problem. In 2019 alone, 37.3 million Americans had diabetes, which contributed to 282,801 deaths, 116 million adults had hypertension, which caused or contributed to more than 500,000 deaths, and 42.4% of American adults and 19.3% of American young people (ages 2 to 19) were obese. Heart disease is the leading cause of death, killing 659,000 people every year. Equally frightening statistics exist for metabolic syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and some types of cancer, all of which are lifestyle diseases.

What We Do

We are a charity organization, and we depend on donations from individuals and businesses for financial support. We use the funds to run the organization, and to bring in experts who provide group health coaching services and run our workshops. Our services are free, but our clients are welcome to donate whatever they can afford to help the foundation’s cause.

Most of our services are offered virtually. We also offer scheduled in person workshops or classes. You can apply for services on our website, make an appointment with a coach and get the guidance that you need through your computer or mobile device. Informational documents are available for downloading, and many articles are available for reading.

About Diet Related Illnesses

Outside Covid-19 and unintentional injuries, the 6 leading causes of death in the USA in 2020 were heart disease, cancer, stroke, chronic lower respiratory diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes in that order. These are caused by lifestyle and dietary choices. Poor dietary choices affect all people, but have the biggest effect on the poor and the minorities who depend on unhealthy but affordable foods. Rich in carbohydrates, the foods greatly increase blood sugar levels, leading to diabetes and weight gain. The foods also contain huge quantities of cholesterol, leading to hypertension, which eventually causes heart disease, stroke and heart attacks.

A Note From Monique Simpson
The Founder of the Gloria E.Simpson Foundation

I decided to start the Gloria E. Simpson Foundation in honor of my mother about one year after her passing in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I journeyed alongside my mother through several diet related illnesses and witnessed her challenges through their progression.

Initially, she had limited knowledge pertaining to the link between diet and lifestyle and her disorders. As I matured, I set out to help her change lifestyle habits to prolong her lifespan and quality of life. As I broadened my knowledge base on Health and Wellness, I piqued her interest on the correlation between diet/exercise/stress management and her diagnosed disorders. Eventually she truly wanted to make changes and did so incrementally.

She did her best despite having limited access to resources and community dedication to wellness. Based on my observation, my experience with my mom, and community work, it became clear that people suffering from diet related illnesses would benefit from the following:

• Support systems to assist with changing maladaptive thoughts and behaviors pertaining to wellness
• Access to nutritional coaching services that should include resources such as what foods to eat, where to buy such foods, how to prepare meals, and why
• Being able to prepare cultural foods in a healthy way
• Understanding one’s disorder and how it is connected with food
• Support/accountability groups that encourage wellness
• Understanding medications and their connection with food
• Knowledge of resources to aid with stress reduction
• Resources for access to FREE effective services

And, Gloria E. Simpson Foundation was created to provide exactly that.
